"Kindred" by Octavia Butler is a captivating blend of sci-fi and history that digs deep into the brutal realities of slavery. Butler's storytelling grabs you from the start, pulling you into Dana's time-traveling journey and forcing you to confront the horrors of the past. Reading it, I felt a mix of emotions – anger at the injustices, empathy for the characters, and a deeper understanding of the complexities of race and power. Butler's narrative is both haunting and eye-opening. It's a gripping read that leaves a lasting impact, prompting important conversations about our past and its echoes in the present.

This book was amazing. I loved Octavia Butler's  writing style and how easy it was to connect with the characters and to feel and understand all the emotions that were happening between each chapter. Rufus was horrible but you couldn't help but understand Dana's perspective and her mental battles, I felt connected with each character and their stories, even if they were there for a few lines which is something I had never experienced with an author.
