what a lovely, heart-wrenching Sunday read
I went blindly into this read, being given the ARC through my work and had no idea this is based on a real life event and oh, how that changed my perception of their survival and love
because at the end of it, it's truly just a love story, a love letter to love itself
on the other hand, I feel like my dad would really like this novel, him being a sailor and all, which is why I always loved tales of the sea

Makes you want to grab your husband and go on a big adventure... but not in a boat.

The story narrated in the book is quite incredible and interesting. I read the whole book in a day, on a train ride. Personally, I think that the narration is too dry and blunt at times, and that the weight of the story is oddly distributed. The long parts about Maurice’s old life, without a clear significance in the book, take away slightly from the more interesting 118 days adrift of two young Brits in the early 70s, and it is a pity that not much is said at all about their life together after the rescue.
Would recommend, but with a side note.
