This is an incredible book. Hawkins builds suspense through a braided narrative led by a truly lovable unreliable narrator, and her searing portraits of abuse and fertility / partum issues ring painfully true. This is vital social commentary yet every inch the propulsive thriller. One should be so lucky with a first novel!!

Well-written and suspenseful. However it was hard to get invested in the story because I didn't really like any of the characters.

Great book with a plot twist which I didn't see coming. Did drag on a bit but was a great read.

I have to admit, this was pretty subpar compared to other things I've read lately. The plot moved slowly, the character development left much to be desired, and by the end I really didn't care who did it or why. I was a little disappointed after all of the rave reviews. This may be one of the rare instances where the movie will probably be better than the book. I see what the author was trying to do, but it just wasn't effective for me as a reader. *Shrug*

Written from the points a view of different female characters. It all ties together as the story progresses. The hardest part for me when reading the book is that I disliked the women-selfish, vain, needy.
