This author has an amazing-but-unbeknowst-to-me method for creating a book I couldn't put down. I found myself trying to figure out how I could get out of my personal commitments so that I could go read this darn book. I simply can't figure out why I liked this book --while reading it--so much, because in retrospect it hasn't really stayed with me. I found all of the characters quite unlikable and the voice changes from chapter to chapter were sometimes hard to get into. But, dang it, I wanted to know which despicable character had killed the other despicable one. One month after finishing this book, I cannot remember the characters' names but I do remember throughout the book thinking the names were forgettable and I was forever confusing one for the other. I wanted the drunk girl to redeem herself. I wanted the men to eventually man up. I wanted the dead girl to have had a purpose for living. I wanted the home-wrecker to be honest to herself. How did I end up caring about these characters?! Paula Hawkins got inside my head, and I may have to read this book again to unlock her mesmerizing effect! Do I recommend this book? Um, kinda...well, ask me next month...

Twisting, turning, and unpredictable, "The Girl on the Train" is an intriguing fast-paced thriller that's attracted quite a bit of attention recently, being dubbed "the next 'Gone Girl'". After having read it, I can see why it has attracted said attention, though I found it more compelling while less well-written than "Gone Girl". I appreciated immensely that Paula Hawkins focused the narrative on her female characters, who with the exception of Anna were very well-drawn. My heart ached for Rachel and Megan by the end-- you'll have to read it though to find out why. The last two-thirds of the book I positively raced through, wanting to find out the truth about what had happened. I'm sure "The Girl on the Train" will be an immensely popular beach read once it comes out in paperback!

this book was thrilling. Every word makes you wonder what would happen next. the story of Jess and Jason that is connected to almost every aspect of Rachel's life pulls you in. the details are extraordinary. the mystery is suspenseful. and this book is straight out phenomenal. definitely a favorite.

i forgot to give my review of this lol. i really enjoyed it, the beginning was a bit slow but not too slow where it was boring, you could tell it was building to something much bigger. each chapter i seemed to be rooting for a different character. and after awhile i found myself waiting for multiple perspectives because no one character could give a correct and thorough description of what was going on. i would def recommend, a lil trigger warning for alcoholism!

Satisfying justice!

After first pages i thought I don't like this book very much but after some chapters i really started to enjoy this book

I hated all of the characters. They didn't seem very fleshed out at all. But it was a fun read.
