Disclaimer: I was sent a free copy of this book by Island Press as part of their "Blind Date With A Book" promotion, in exchange for a review.

The premise of the book is interesting: that plants are intelligent. It's something that I'd never thought of, as my only experience with plants is to appreciate their beauty. Some arguments made by the authors seem well thought out and researched, others not. Do plants actually have our same senses of sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste, as we'll as other senses? Do plants communicate with other plants, as well as animals? Do plants sleep? I'm not entirely convinced that they do, but it was interesting to be made aware of the possibility.

This wasn't a very exciting book to read, but from now on, I will look at our beautiful green plants as being more than just decoration. I do have more of an appreciation for these creatures and what they do.

Part of my effort to more consciously think about plants this semester. Still not sure what I make of everything in this book, but I enjoyed it!
