It was problematic in parts (and I'm super tired of the FMC in dark romance books being just in there 20s but thats a general complaint but was almost enought for me to dnf after 12 pages.

I enjoyed maybe 50 pages of this book, the rest is ridiculous.

I liked it. But there are so many things in this that bothered me that I physically couldn’t make myself rate it higher.

There is absolutely no real remorse for anything the guys did to Rika. Yes, they “felt sorry” whatever whatever, but they put her through hell and we’re just gonna think it’s fine? I guess my main problem is that the long-lasting trauma from sexual assault and the later effects of gaslighting weren’t addressed. Rika needs so much therapy (and needs to break up with Michael).

The sex was fun though, and I do like the idea that Rika is as crazy as them. I’ll give it that.

I think if any of the guys were held accountable (and there were any consequences for the horrific acts they inflicted on Rika), if Rika’s future PTSD and trauma relating to the events were discussed, or if Rika was very clearly stated to be just as crazy as them (and therefore every character in the book was clearly and explicitly stated to be morally grey), then this could have immediately jumped up to a 3, maybe even a 3.5. But because this book makes this seem like normal romantic behavior and doesn’t seem self aware in any way, I can’t rate it that high.

I listened to this on audiobook and enjoyed it as much as the first time. Im doing a re read due to only reading this first book 4 years ago but not continuing the series.

It follows Erika (Rika) who comes from a wealthy family , her dad has passed but her mother is always travelling and not home much she stays with her god parents a lot and their sons. The younger brother Trevor is her match, everyone believes they’re meant to be together but she has always had eyes for the dark older brother Michael.  Rika is 16 years old now and one fateful night has change her future after hanging out at devils night and confronting the four horsemen. Rika is now the target of revenge due to the downfall of that fateful night years ago.

I like Rika she reminds me of a damsel in distress with a bit of fight in her. Michael is dark and brutal personality but I think I prefer Kai as a character more. Iv been told the next book moves on to Kai’s story and I’m ready for this!!
The Sauna scene is stuck on my brain and the smut was great.
