This is definitely going down as one of my favourites for the year.
Exceptionally well written, the style was unusual yet didn't feel awkward at all. The characterisation was executed incredibly well in my opinion and I really did connect with everyone.
Laurel's friends were real, fleshed out people. They weren't just there to exist, they added depth to the story and I loved getting to know them, and fighting for them too.

This was a terrible waste of time. Seriously this book was just painfully slow, boring and filled with absolutely nothing noteworthy.

Her writing in my head sounds like a monotone voice completely void of any kind of emotion. On top of that immense boredom, she is childish. She comes across as a ten year old, telling an adult about what she has seen and feeling all kinds of sophisticated when she get's an intelligent sounding word right.
Other than that there is no personality to her. It's just all so so boring, it really is bad.

Laurel, de 15 años, ha perdido a su hermana mayor y carga consigo una mochila de pena, irritación y culpa. Cambia de escuela donde no hay amigos que le recuerden todo lo sucedido.
En clase de literatura le dan la tarea de escribir una carta a alguien que haya fallecido. Laurel empieza a escribir cartas a personajes que admira y que murieron jóvenes. Es asi como Janis Joplin, Kurt Cubain, Amelia Earheart, Amy Winehouse, Judy Garland, entre otros, pasan a ser sus confidentes. Porque como ella misma dice: “Hay ciertas cosas que no puedo contar a nadie, excepto a la gente que ya no está aqui”
Esta es una historia que te desarma y te vuelve a armar. Cartas honestas que te muestran la vulnerabilidad, el dolor y la impotencia que se siente ante la muerte de alguien muy amado.
La visión de vida de esta adolescente, aveces caótica aveces utópica, y los personajes secundarios, cada uno con sus propias complicaciones, le dan fuerza y realidad a la trama. Le dan alma.
Aqui no hay finales armados de felices para siempre, pero se siente la luz, el abrazo y la tranquilidad de saber que la vida continua y después de tanto dolor, se puede sonreir otra vez.
Me ha gustado mucho.

Ok, so this book was very heavy in hard topics, but in my opinion it did a beautiful job discussing said topics. This book wrecked me emotionally even though I guessed most of the things that happened. For a young adult novel it was written well and I enjoyed it. I would definitely read more by this author.
Overall, this book really makes you think about the little choices people make that stack up and how they affect others.

Я начала читать эту книгу только потому, что мне понравилась обложка. я не читала аннотацию совсем, а просто спросила у Стейши, вышла ли эта книга, а она мне ее подкинула :)
Если в кратце, то главная героиня - девушка-подросток Лорел, у которой умерла старшая сестра Мэй, переходит в другую школу и на первом уроке Английского классу дают задание написать письмо мертвецу (я почему-то сразу думаю о зомби, ну и ладно). Она выбирает Курта Кобейна и все с этого начинается.
На протяжение всей книги девушка страдает без сестры, пишет письма, впервые влюбляется. Позже становится известна причина смерти Мэй (честно говоря, я ожидала другого). Пол книги я прочла взахлеб, а потом меня стала раздражать гг (будете читать - поймете, наверное). Правда раздражение прошло, и в два часа ночи я рыдала над книгой.
Что мне очень понравилось в книге, что нет глав, а только письма. И музыкальное сопровождение - песни Курта, Эми крутились в моей голове практическм всю книгу (хочется теперь переслушать все альбомы х)). И еще книгу просто можно разобрать на цитаты (что собственно я и сделала).
Но что мне не понравилось, так это причина смерти Мэй и как закончилась книга (привет, Стивен Кинг).
Ах да, книга понравится любителям романтики, а так же она похожа "Хорошо быть тихоней", и, скорее всего, впечатлительные люди будут над ней реветь больше, чем я :)

Ok hear me out: I LOVED this. It hit me right in the feels in all the best ways. The reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is because I feel like it was a little forgettable. I think about a couple months from now and probably not remembering the characters names. Maybe I'll change this review if I keep thinking about it.
bueno este libro definitivamente es parecido casi al 80% al libro de las ventajas de ser invisible o las ventajas de ser un marginado, tenemos violación,amigos con problemas iguales o peores que los del protagonista,tenemos un amor que ayuda en lo que puede al protagonista, tenemos un shok post muerte de alguien cerca a nosotros, podría decirse que es exactamente igual; es que se diferencia este libro a el de las ventajas de ser invisible: en que la escritora de cartas de amor a los muertos no nos deja divagando sobre lo que le pasa a Luren (la protagonista) ella nos deja toda una carta explicándonos la violación de lauren, donde fue, como fue y que otro tipo de ultrajes recibió ella de parte de su agresor tambíen nos explica sobre la muerte de May la hermana mayor de lauren y el porque el skock de esta muerta, que a diferencia de las ventajas de ser invisible nos toco prácticamente escurrirnos el cerebro para poder entender al pobre charlie ya que nadie nos decía nada, no sabia sobre su violación, no supimos mucho sobre la muerte de su amigo, entonces nos toco a fuerza de lidia entender a charlier. Aunque con lauren tambíen nos toco esperar mucho para saber la verdad; pero por lo menos la supimos, no nos toco adivinarla.
Pero de todas maneras ambos libros son muy buenos y este definitivamente me dejo muy satisfecha sentí cada dolor del personaje, pensé en como me sentiría yo si creyera que mi hermana se suicido por mi culpa, tambíen sentimos el cambio de la protagonista y como creció tanto mental como emocionalmente. Se merece las 5 estrellas que le estoy dando.
Pero de todas maneras ambos libros son muy buenos y este definitivamente me dejo muy satisfecha sentí cada dolor del personaje, pensé en como me sentiría yo si creyera que mi hermana se suicido por mi culpa, tambíen sentimos el cambio de la protagonista y como creció tanto mental como emocionalmente. Se merece las 5 estrellas que le estoy dando.
