This is a violently beautiful book. The prose is gory and searing and the depictions of grief will linger for a long time. It’s difficult to read, and I also had a hard time getting through it because quite a bit of it was in second person, and I just find that alienating. It’s a tour de force of a book, though, that makes you look the bloody realities of oppression in the face and won’t let you close your eyes.

Beautiful, enraging, devastating - the human side of oppression and resistance. Carefully and respectfully told.

You may experience some kind of strong physical and/or mental reaction to this if you'll have guts to finish it. The writing is truly outstanding.
