I got into this one way more than I expected to - not sure why I chose it/how I came by it until I realized it fulfilled a Kindle Challenge requirement for a Goodreads pick.  I read horror/mysteries/thrillers all the time and honestly the blurb sounded a bit familiar to me, but as I got into the book I realized this one really stands out from other nanny horror books I've read.  The supernatural aspects are really well done
"Anya" being the mother was mind-blowing!  I liked the red herring of the mid-century murder plot that wasn't a murder...So many twists and turns came as surprises but even though I marked this spoiler and I seriously doubt anyone cares to read my reviews just in case I won't give more away.
. Having known a few addicts in various stages of use/recovery I really liked the future that was laid out for Mallory and the amount of work she was willing to put in.  This one was a pleasant early January surprise that will be hopefully setting the pace for the year - I LOVE being surprised by plot twists I really don't see coming!

So glad I gave this book a chance! I was a little hesitant when it comes to horror featuring children, since it often ends with the child dead or treated like a monster. This novel always treated the child sympathetically, and though Teddy was portrayed as strange, the end makes everything clear and gives this child a happy ending. There were twists and turns throughout this novel, with Quinn unable to trust her own mind as a recovering addict, but her efforts to improve herself and her empathy are truly her greatest strengths.

I had clocked who the true dangers of the story were early on, but I couldn't figure out why they did what they did until it was revealed, and what a reveal it was! Truly, the true horror is
entitled white women. And also white men, but this one definitely painted Caroline as the more dangerous person

The ghost being an artists, the conflicting stories and theories, the way art is so important throughout the plot! This is definitely a novel I would recommend to everyone who's into horror.
