A depiction of the Christian walk. I would say that this book is a must read as it shows us what it looks like to walk through life with and without God and how life is unbearable without Him.

I had to read this for school. It is a great thought and it is very creative and teaches a great lesson, but it's a little.... dated. In a bad way.

FIRST LINE REVIEW: “As I walked through the wilderness of this world, I lighted on a certain place where was a Den, and I laid me down in that place to sleep: and, as I slept, I dreamed a dream.” And for the next 175 pages or so, the dream is shared with the reader. Impressive as a 17th century work of religious literature, telling through allegory the tale of Pilgrim on his travels to the City of God. Much like the Morality play, “Everyman,” all characters are allegorical and the purpose is a sermon about the pathway to heaven. I wouldn’t call it a particularly compelling read, though I did appreciate it as a work of historical literature.

I have to confess, this is one of the rare books that's made it onto my 'did not finish' pile... It's not really through any major fault in the book; I just found that as I was reading it I was painfully conscious that I was not getting anything of value out of the experience. With my bookshelves groaning with all the books I've acquired over the years and not yet read, I just couldn't bring myself to commit any more time to finishing this one. The tale is too heavy-handed of an allegory to be enjoyable just for reading's sake, and I'm not interested enough in its evangelical angle to get much from from that aspect of it.
I personally didn't enjoy this book.
the style of writing is old classic style which can be show and boring in some classic books.
I suspect someone religious beliefs may get more out of this book.
you will need a bucketful of perseverance to get through to the end.
