Absolute favorite book as a child. I remember once I set out to write a revised version--the exact same events but in modern English. So many good Biblical truths woven into this story, and while it may be a little heavy-handed with the allegory, I think that's the point. A true classic, and worthy of its position of second-best-seller of all time (after the Bible).

The story is slightly modified from the original here but is still outstanding. The only complaint I have is a slightly petty one: when I was little and innocently picked this book up, the illustrations terrified the heck out of me. The painting of Apollyon in particular was so frightening that I had nightmares for days after. So...I don't know that I would recommend using this one with younger children, despite the illustrations. The illustrations are the scary part. xD

Really good translation. The pictures were amazing. The religion was at times overwhelming

I know it's vain of me to review my own book and perhaps shocking that I give it only two stars. But the fact is I failed in this book - and I would know. I intended or as satire, people, and none of you got it. I mean, all those ridiculous character names! How could you not see it? Because I'm a horrible writer that's why. Read Frank L. Baum's "Wizard of Oz" if you want a GOOD journey story.
What is worst is that this book is a "classic" and SO many people have read it. My far superior book, the first of the series, "The Pilgrim Starts Out", is lost to history while "The Pilgrim's Progress" remains in print. Believe me, it is no loss that the third book, "The Pilgrim Finally Arrives" is also forgotten. That book suuuuuuucked.
I suppose I should be thankful that so many have bought this book and liked it, even if for the wrong reason.

Edited by C.J. Lovik is the way to go! Written in the 1600's and is not as well-read today as in previous generations, but is still full of truth! I loved it... If it wasn't owned by the public library, I would have been highlighting it up!

Hey! I read a classic! What do you know? It was good -- been wanting to read this one for years!

What a delight. This book is a perfect encapsulation of the pitfalls, temptations and despairs that every believer will feel familiar with as they endeavour to walk with Christ. Masterful, timeless, and full of excellent biblical references, I cannot recommend this highly enough. Read it.

I was excited to read this to prepare myself to watch the movie that came out a few years ago, it felt like I was reading the cartoon play out. The plot shared some twists on some of the challenges Christians face. Lost my interest towards end. Probably would have kept my interest if I was younger. Movie was better although demons were scary looking
