I enjoyed this book. It follows the story of Jagger (Josh from the first book's best friend) who is in army flight school to become a pilot and he meets Peyton (the general's daughter). However they meet in a chance encounter and has no idea who the other is until they run into each other on base. They have secrets that neither want to tell the other which makes it a have to read to find out book and there are twists that I didn't see coming which has been a theme in RY books and i love that quirk. Peyton and Jagger agree to be friends but the closer they get and the more time they spend together, friends is becoming harder to be. I really liked their story and the way more characters were introduced this time around because there are still 3 more books in the series and the characters that were introduced in this book is the main focus on the next book so that was a cool lineup.

5+ “broken heart” stars

“That’s right. Your heart in your body-“
“Yes! Mine! You don’t own it or control it. I do!”
“God damn it, Paisley! You own mine!”

The fact that I’m utterly in love with this book is the understatement of the year. I’m not even sure there something about this book I could have hate. Literally, it was everything I love wrap in one book.

Paisley Donavan is a 20 years old college girl with a serious heart condition, the same one who took her sister Peyton away. She believed she’d die at the exact same age her sister did. So thar means: less than a year left for her. Unlike her sister, she doesn’t want to miss anything from life. So she does this bucket list to not miss anything.
I truly believe Paisley was a great heroine. She was so strong, she only wanted to feel and be normal and I felt sad knowing the people around her (her parents and her boyfriend Will) seemed to forget about it.

“Though she be but little, she is fierce.”

And then, enter Jagger - Mr. California – Bateman; we met him in Full Measure as Josh best friend. The very first time I read about him, I wanted more. And thank god, I did. He is definitely a new Book-boyfriend!
Broken at heart, in a different way than Paisley, he has a rough past he doesn’t want to be associate to. The past few years he set his mind on one thing: become an Apache pilot.
And then, he met Paisley, and all bets are down.
Jagger was, I don’t know, just like Josh, he’s the kind of guy I will take to meet my parents. God I was in love with they way he was in love with Paisley.

“I’d be worthy of her, not because she asked me to – she’d never ask me to change – but because she deserved the best man to hold her, understand her, love her.”

One of their biggest speed bump is Will Carter, Paisley’s boyfriend and Jagger rival in fly school. I wanted to hate him. I guess at first I hated him, he was – really - an asshole to Jagger, and he really treated – way to much - Paisley like a fragile doll. But as the book go on, I just realise he had his reason, and that kind – in a twisted way - made me love him. Don’t get me wrong, he is not Jagger, and he definitely did not steal the show. But honestly, I truly believe he deserve his own book, so maybe the next one? With Morgan? I so wish!!! Or maybe it would be about Grayson Masters? (I also really wish!)

I loved to see Ember and Josh, I really did love them in the previous book, but I think I loved Paisley and Jagger a lot more, or maybe I only loved them in a different way.

“I’ve seen love burn someone to the ground, and I’ve seen it make sense of the ridiculous. I won’t settle for less than that kind of fire.”

To be honest, it’s not the kind of book that would make you laugh every page. It’s the kind of book that would make you feel so many things almost every page. A shot right throw the heart. I loved them and I hated them for what they were doing sometimes. God, I just wanted to shake some sense of out Paisley so many times. But believe me, every pain, every frustration, every tear it’s worth it.
Everything single word is worth it.
Because it’s the kind of book that makes you realize; your life could be so much more.
Just as Paisley I want to write my own bucket list and start living and not only existing.

Because it’s a book about living the way YOU want to. About discovering what you really want out of life. And it’s about realizing; it’s only you who can decide what is best for you, whatever the people you love say.

Read it, feel it and love it. You will only wish for more. Well, I did.
