More like a 3.5/5 but I love rounding up. I thought that the actual mystery was compelling and fun and Jonathan Darcy and Juliet Tilney were delightful protagonists (also, loved that this younger Darcy is autistic). Was it a bit of a stretch to have nearly every main couple of an Austen novel involved in this murder mystery? Yes. Do I strongly object to the characterization of Fanny, Edmund, Marianne, and Frederick (everyone else felt right to me)? Yes. And yet did I have a good time? Yes, I did. Enough that I'm compelled to go get the second book from the library.

If you're a big Austen fan and wish you could lock all her leads in a house and weigh up their capacity for murder than this book is for you.

You would probably enjoy this novel more if you've read and studied all the novels that the cast is drawn from (I've read four of the six).

There is something a bit strange about reading something like this (fanfiction essentially) that questions the morals of known characters but it is fun.

I enjoyed the new character additions of the young Mr Darcy and Miss Tilney. I like their  detective work while trying to maintain social decorum. I liked them both separately and together, I would potentially continue the series.

I finished The Murder of Mr Wickham last night. It was very enjoyable and easy to read. All of Jane's characters acted how we would expect and I enjoyed the addition of the next generation. Juliet Tilney clearly took after her mum, and Jonathan Darcy was an awkward, autistic kid struggling with the fact that murder investigations do not follow the rules of polite society!
Also, OMG Fanny and Edmund Bertram may have actually been more annoying and pious than they were in Mansfield Park!
I know enough about Wickham that I had guessed why he was murdered long before the reveal and there was so much chat about people's wardrobes that I also guessed who. I was invested enough in everyone's marriage problems, though, that guessing the murder didn't ruin the book for me.
.
Definitely recommended to the Austen fans, like me, who can't resist a spin-off or retelling.

Meh. The mystery was not very intriguing. I enjoyed getting a glimpse of some of my favorite Austen characters after their books, but that's about all this book did for me.
