This was fun! I liked it a lot better than the first in the series, but I don't know if that's because it actually was better, or if it's because Urban Fantasy as a whole has grown on me since reading the first one. Either way, I can now fully appreciate this series, and that pleases me. Not much more to say... Other than to state that I want to make hot, sweaty, kinky lion love to Curran. Just saying, don't judge me.

The world building and mythology and supernatural and fantasy elements of this series are so great. It’s all my favorite things wrapped up into a savage and bloody box and I love it. The characters are great, the mystery and villains devious and enthralling... the action is nonstop—I love this series and hope it doesn’t let up on its awesome factor anytime soon.

Holy discontinuity Batman! A subplot-character from Book 1 suddenly develops a first name, some acquaintances in Kate's world, and more emotional resonance... all introduced totally without explanation near the beginning of Book 2. It had me wondering if I'd somehow ended up with an out-of-date version of Book 1.

That aside, this was good fun! It's really interesting to see the seeds of the Hidden Legacy series
Spoilerin the interactions between Kate and Curran, and in Kate's development in general
. I'm curious to see how it plays out differently over 10+ books rather than just three.

Well, that's not bad at all. In fact, it was a big improvement from the first book. The problem with the first book was, it crammed with jumble of things that didn't amount to anything but instead felt like missing pages. In the second book though, it was rolled slowly and focused on the storyline so it flowed cohesively. The writing was also felt more natural this time around. And I have to say, the male characters were brushed up better. In Magic Bites, the impression I got was that the writer tried to stress Kate's female badassness too much and how she had to be challenged by every man and had to prove herself again and again to the point that she just made every male characters acted like a bunch of irrational assholes. In Magic Burns though, it was a much more realistic portray of diverse male characters. Kate was still awesome, and even developed a bit. We also got more information about her background and the way the world in this book worked.

My favorite part was the Celtic mythology element and Kate relationship with Julie and Andrea, and also Derek.
What I didn't like much? Sexual angle in this series. I guessed I got why it appealed to the market, but it was a bit much and it didn't compliment Kate in any way at all.

All in all, I quite enjoyed it and the potential of this world was clear. If just after one book it was considerably improved, I am hopeful for the next books.
