Fun, but a bit too chick-lit-y for this reader. The best part was when they still "hated" each other, strangely enough.

This was so good, that I've not only 5-starred it, but I've added it to my favourites! I was really in the mood for something different, and this delivered! Also, I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers/workplace romances.

Lucy and Josh both work for B&G Publishing House. Previously there was a merger and they both came from different publishing houses, so they are arch enemies in the workplace.

The sarcasm and banter between them was hilarious. They were two great characters who gave as good as they got. And when the option for promotion within the company comes up, the gloves are off.

I LOVED both characters. Lucy had a 'Bridget Jones' vibe about her (clumsy, lonely, cute), and Josh had a 'Bond villain' swagger to him (dark, brooding, menacing). But when the walls slowly came down between them, that's when the magic happened.

This book was sweet, funny, sarcastic, sexy and real. This was a debut novel, and you wouldn't think it. The writing was confident, tight and engaging, and I can't wait for this author's next book.

Pretty standard. I almost could imagine it as a stage play though, kinda fun that way.

⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed the story but it took me three entire days to get through this book. I constantly lost my focus. It just wasn't that catching, I guess. The story was also a bit dreading for me. I mean, we all knew they would end up together after the first chapter so how could Josh still believe Lucy hated him near the end of the book? And how are these people adults? Their romance sounded like a childrens' romance to me honestly.

I know many people enjoyed this book and when I started this book I got several DM's of people telling me how much they loved it but it is a no for me.

Perfection. Best enemies to lovers/falls first book ever. Don’t even @ me.

Loved this - full of witty, teasing banter and I enjoyed Sally Thorne’s humorous writing style, the slightly offbeat way she create’s Lucy’s inner monologue.

A delight that had me racing through it.

The only thing I didn’t love, though I think it was intentional, is that the location was deliberately vague and generic - a kind of ‘any city’. And I love it when romance novels have a strong sense of place.

Otherwise I think this is a classic ‘must read’ for any fan of contemporary romance.

4.5 I just wish there was more!!

i really enjoyed this book, the obvious love and connection between the main characters, but their denial. i do wish that there wasn’t such a jump into sudden tension in the elevator, it felt like it came out of no where, but maybe i just like a good slow burn? i still loved it.
