New favorite romance alert! I was obsessed with this! The rivals to lovers was great, there was so much tension 😂 The office was like they either absolutely despise each other or are secretly doing it.

So Lucy and Josh are actually both assistants to the CEO’s of their publishing company that came together in a merger. Since the day they met this rivalry has been on. All Lucy wanted was to be friends but Josh brushed her off the moment they met. They thrive on making little barbs at each other throughout the day. And now they’re competing for a new position. The tension brews between them though and they end up kissing which makes Lucy spiral. Josh was actually really sweet though. At one point she got sick and he stayed the night with her taking care of her and she goes with him to his brothers wedding.

They were just so cute and I loved them and I already miss them so much.

Books take me forever to read now that I have a job :( I loved this book! If you haven't read it you best do so!!
lighthearted fast-paced

The positives:
Cute, fast paced, easy to read. Kinda what I wanted to break up the high fantasy and crime genres I’ve been reading.

The negatives:
Some of the dialogue and description was SO CRINGE oh my lord. “DERRRR”!??!!?!!? In PUBLISHED LITERATURE? Bye.

FMC Lucy is so childish and can only seem to talk about how tiny she is all the time. And a Smurf collection being her second main personality was so weird. Overall just a very odd way to write a character as weird and quirky. MMC Josh was slightly better done. Also there was hardly any enemies in the enemies to lovers trope? it was done so poorly, where’s the strong motive behind hatred? This was more like a minor rivals to lovers.

Honestly, if you sat me down and told me this was some type of zootopia fanfiction I would’ve believed you

Great book!

I loved this book. Its such a feel good book. Its a little predictable but none the less, it is so good. A couple meet at work, hate each other, go to a wedding together, and end up falling in love.

cute!

"I'm turning redder than a flippin strawberry."

Someone euthanise me. NEVER read this book ever I can't physically give it more than one star because that would be an INSULT to ALL GOOD LITERATURE. How this book is so highly rated I have ZERO clue because Sally Thorne should NEVER pick up a book again. The characters were written so poorly, for a book that claims to be 'enemies-to-lovers slowburn' ITS NOT VERY SLOW IF THEY'RE MAKING OUT AT 7% IN.

"Le sigh."

I wish I fucking DNF'ed this book but I forced myself through because I was reading this for a book club. Never again. If I was in Farenheit 451 this would be the FIRST and ONLY book I would ban because this is a travesty against every other author alive. Does Sally Thorne even know how to pick up a pen?

"I stand and slap my own butt loud enough to make my point."

In Chapter 5..? ...Ok. NOTHING about this book was good. Every page turn evoked such a visceral rage from me that I'm pretty sure I saw red at one point. The writing is so poor, the characterisation is poor, the pacing is poor, EVERYTHING IS POOR SO WHY ARE WE MAKING SALLY THORNE RICH FROM SALES.

The main character, Lucy, is obsessed with collecting smurf figurines, has complete mood changes every chapter, is apparently SO tiny that "the smallest suit they had is still so big that people laugh when they see me". Okay Sally Thorne. Lucy can't decide whether she hates Joshua (the ML) or wants to "scrunch up [his] T-shirt into a bowl and eat it with a dessert spoon." How relatable am I right, when reading this I really wanted to pour pure cyanide into a bowl and eat it with a dessert spoon!

"I cross my eyes at him, poke my tongue out, and say, 'Derrrr.'" Threw up a little!
