3.5 stars, I disliked Hannah so much, but I really enjoyed Jonathan’s story. I’m glad I read it, but I wouldn’t pick it up again. I would be interested in a story focused on Leopold.

Following the story of Hannah and Jonathan who live in the same city but are worlds apart in personality. The story starts as Jonathan finds a bag containing a diary on the handlebars of his bike after a run on New Year's Day. Each page completed with inspiration quotes, ideas on what to do that day etc. But no details as to who it belongs to.
Hannah's story starts a few months before the New Year with her opening up her own daycare centre with her friend. Sharing details of her relationship with Simon and how he becomes ill. Making the diary as a way to encourage him throughout the year ahead. However, when she wakes on New Year's Day Simon has gone and left her a note.
The story flits back and forth between Jonathan and Hannah as they navigate through the new year and missed opportunities to meet and discover who the other one is.
An easy read that doesn't really come to anything, there is no spark, build up or excitement.

Entertaining reading. Yes, I found the character of H overwritten but I still enjoyed this book. If you're looking for a dose of optimism this might be the light read for which you search. You'll probably predict several of the conclusions, but I will still recommend to my friends.

This one was enjoyable to read, perky because I liked the German culture portrayed in it and mostly because I adored all of the motivational advice for making over one’s life. A sweet book.

2.5 rounded up to 3. I wanted to like this story more than I ultimately did. I still really like the plot of the story but the execution of it was not doing it for me. I wonder if some of it got lost in translation.

I did not enjoy this. Exceedingly predictable. And neither characters’ stories went anywhere for a good portion of the book.

Cute story. Love the publishing/book setting... and in Germany! Hannah and Simon's relationship was so frustrating. They were so mismatched and all the crying. Good gracious! Lisa is the best friend ever. No one is that nice. :)
