Analysed some of these poems for school and apart from the stress of memorising these poems, I really enjoyed learning about the poetic devices and meanings of each poem.

While Seamus Hegney’s introductory essay is brief it does flesh out some biographical details that make “getting” these poems a little easier (I know a lot of people decry it but I find context to be a wonderful thing). I’ve never been a huge fan of Wordsworth but when he moves me, he is superb.

Part of my purpose of reading at least one poem a day, this was pulled from my library quite randomly. I frankly didn't think I'd enjoy these poems as much as I did, being all elegiac about nature and all that. I will not even pretend to do a literary analysis. I will just say I found a phrase that made me pause - for beauty, for relevance, for being so surprisingly modern - in almost every poem. But than, again, it is Wordsworth, so what am I surprised about. Recommended especially if you like to read poetry aloud.
