The creature feature story is great but the 5 friends so annoying. The book focused too much on the relationship drama and it clouded the entire story.

scary but ending unsatisfying (spoilers)

I love a good thriller/horror but…

hate the ones that leave you wondering what happens to the characters at the end. If you’re going to have someone “survive” then let them survive. Don’t let me go on forever wondering if they actually get out or not.

The friendships/relationships in this are extremely unbelievable. You’re telling me a guy who met a girl for the first time at this cabin is going to keep thinking about how much he loved her when dealing with a life-threatening survival situation? Yea ok SuRe

This campy horror story with monsters, isolation in snow, and stranded friend. What's not to love about this.

A story about friends coming up to the family cabin of twins Jane and Ryan for one last snowy experience before the new owners take over. As the story progresses, the friends go on snowboarding adventures, playing games in the house, and have budding relationships. However they keep missing, ignoring, or explaining away the signs that something terrifying, ominous is out there. Such as scolding their growling dog, giant blood marks in the roadway snow, or noises outside the house.

Outside of the group, the reader gets in on the secret of the monster and what horror is happening outside of the cabin. It creates this this anxiety and stress, of yelling at characters to stop being so dumb haha. Always listen to the dog!

I loved this book. It is gory but somehow in a good fun way? I was so stressed out about the dog the entire time, more than the characters lol. There is definitely some cliche situations where you are like no don't do that, don't go there. However it was exactly what I needed and wanted out of this book. The setting of the snow and winter also worked perfectly.

The ending was fantastic and heartbreaking at times.

This is a great monster book. The wendigo werewolf esque creatures sound like they'd be super scary in real life. Love that!  But, fuck every one of these main characters. They were all awful people. The only one really cared was Oona the husky and April. And it's only out of sympathy for April.

The vibes of this book are immaculate! Like an older scary movie. Loved it.
