I gave this 4 stars here but it’s more like 3.5. The book gives bits of horror that are related to the story but not really relevant in the first half of the book before the action starts revving up. That was kinda cool and kept it interesting. This book was a solid 4 stars…until the ending. I thought the ending was meh.

WHY DID EVERYONE HAVE TO DIE?! (Okay, Jane isn't dead, but it's inevitable, right?) I really, really enjoyed this book. Isolation is my favorite horror set-up, so as soon as I realized the premise was five people stuck in the snowy middle of nowhere, I was hooked. I loved that the monsters were creepy and that there was absolutely no explanation or backstory to them - to me, that makes it so much more terrifying. But... whyyy did everyone have to have a terrible ending? I mean, someone has to survive to give the reader some sort of hope, right? (and again, I don't count going back up to the cabin as hopeful)

This book ensnared me more than I thought it would. It was a good balance between some body horror and actually moving the plot along.

SOLID creature feature with some genuinely intense moments. However, I wasn’t a fan of the long chapters!

Well after reading this book it makes me never want to go stay in a cabin in the woods during winter. I was hooked from the start with this book and couldn’t put it down. It was written so well and descriptive that I was shivering just from reading it. This book definitely creeped me out and had me staring out the window to make sure there were no monsters lurking in my backyard. Overall, I highly enjoyed this quick winter horror read and definitely recommend for anyone who needs a little fright.
