I really enjoyed this creepy creature feature set in the winter woods! After hearing what seemed like endless good things about this one during the past few chilly months, I finally picked up my copy and am so glad I waited until the winter season to read it.
The creature descriptions were done so well I had actual goosebumps during some of the scenes where our characters interacted with them, and I think at a certain point my brain stopped imagining them to save myself from nightmares. Ania Ahlborn writes horrifyingly good stories that also have a way of focusing on the characters as well, although in this one I found myself caring less about the characters romance/family drama and more about when we would see the creatures next. Regardless, I could not put this one down when I would pick it up and found myself desperate to find out what would happen. Not to mention the isolated cabin setting in the winter woods was so atmospheric and really added an extra element to the story.
If you're looking for a perfectly creepy winter slasher read, definitely pick this one up!

I picked this book mostly cuz of its winter vibes. Seems fit to read winter-y horror books in dead of winter.
Almost all of the author’s books are on my tbr and this happened to be my first pick from that.
The only character I liked was Ryan. I don’t why the girls were so damn dumb? Got the boys into so much trouble cuz of their stupid decisions. The second half was definitely more interesting than the first half. There was a lot of body horror involved but that hardly ever scares me. Wish something more horrific happened in the story. But overall an interesting read. The ending could have been so much better.

this just felt underdeveloped.
the first half was a drag to get through especially when it cuts away from the main group we’re following it felt like it needed to meet a word count so it kept adding in extra scenes that felt really unnecessary almost like if there were multiple cold opens in a movie.
though the action does pick up there’s nothing really compelling about any of it.

Overall, good book, it just lacked in some areas. The end was just
