The book starts off OK but then gets really slow and it took me a while to get into it. Also I felt like there were a lot of characters and so I never really got invested in their survival. Still love the authors writing style and will read pretty much anything I find by them.

This woke was a big disappointment for me. I’ve seen so many 5 star reviews, I was hoping it’d be one for me too. But this just wasn’t my vibe. (Spoiler incoming?)
I’m not a big cryptic/monster horror person unless it’s done in a very specific way (think The Ritual by Nevill), so to find out that’s what this is was a bummer. Plus, I just didn’t give a shit about any of the characters. They all annoyed me. I just didn’t connect with this at all.
5 snowboarders go to a cabin in the woods with enough provisions for around 3 days. A wicked storm rolls in stranding them. Gee, wonder how it ends?
Okay, it's not that simple. Ryan is moving to Switzerland and attempting to say goodbye to his twin, Jane, and his best friend, Sawyer. Jane has brought her friend Lauren along, and Sawyer has brought his girlfriend, April, despite having a romantic history with Jane. To liven things up, Lauren and Ryan are setting the cabin aflame with their sparks, and Jane and Sawyer are obviously not over each other. As for April, she is just a little snot in my opinion. These people are in their mid-twenties, but she doesn't like Sawyer's friends because they are like the popular kids from high school that tormented her. But seriously, high school is over. I was anxiously awaiting her to get attacked. There. I said it. But does she...?
The strained relationships mingled in with the worsening storm and the creatures roaming outside all add to the increasing tension of the house. I'd like to reread this. In the winter. During a bad snow storm. 4 stars.

Although the plot of this story is interesting and the book starts of sooo good, it really was super slow for me. Had I not been listening to it on audio, I probably would not have finished it.
The beginning gave me such good vibes, that I was really going to like how creepy and terrifying the story was going to be, but I felt like there was only one good moment in the entire book that really made me gasp.
On top of how slow it was, the characters were so annoying. I didn’t like any of them. They had so much drama that it wa hard to take at times. And the ending was typical for Ania Ahlborn, a huge as cliffhanger where you can assume what happens very easily.
This may be my least favorite of her books so far.

**Warning: this text may contain spoilers** 4 friends and 1 bitchy girlfriend go to their cabin in the snowy woods for one last hurrah. Except there is no hurrah-ing because of gross Smeagol-like, carnivorous tall-men hiding in the woods. Very suspenseful. Still sad about Lauren.
