Good! Interesting take on ways people could react to the apocalypse. I liked that I still don’t really get it, super interesting and weird.

I absolutely loved this book, even though it left me wanting more.  Written from the point of view of Aeronwy in some near future when people start disappearing in their sleep, no remains, no damage, no noise, they are just gone.  As more and more people disappear, the world descends into turmoil most of which Aeronwy and her partner are sheltered from in their rural Welsh home, until one morning her partner is gone and she is left alone.  For several month, she stays and keeps things ticking along, until one day something she saw in a paper and her desire for family take over and she heads west, to the coast and her family home.  As she goes she records her travels in a diary, burying the books when they're full and leaving IOUs for the things she takes and uses.  The question is, is she the only one left or are there others?  Will she settle back in her family home or return to her mountain retreat, or should she go to London and look for her children?  And what do the swans have to do with everything?  You may not get all the answers but the journey taken with Aeronwy is oddly calming and beautiful despite (or because of) the lack of humans and the slow return of nature.  This is easily a one sitting read (if you don't start too late at night like I did) and is so much more hopeful than many other dystopian works without being forced or coming across cringey.
