I was really excited to read this Cotton Malone story. And, I’m always looking forward to a long-read that promises intrigue and historical events. That said, I really struggled to finish this book. There were multiple characters and storylines, yet the nexus of the plot was uninteresting. After the first 300 pages, I contemplated giving up. But, as a committed reader, I dragged myself through all 598 pages.

3.5 Stars. I like the Danny Daniels character and his inclusion based upon the political nebulous of the book's plot made sense. That said, I hope this doesn't become a trend where the back up/reoccurring cast is more like an ensemble. The other concern I have is that Cassiopia seemed really downsized in capability and value. She was more like the damsel in distress. UGH. I liked the political nature of the book and the concern expressed seems timely, and totally plausible.

I have read a few books in this series. After reading this most recent book, I realize that I really do need to go back and read all of the missing books. I breezed through this book with great speed as I was very engaged with what I was reading. The mystery regarding the Knights of the Golden Circle and the mystery surround billions in lost gold was intriguing. This story may have been fiction but it is not that far unbelievable to imagine that this could be a story ripped right from the history books.

Cotton is on top of his game. He stood toe to toe with everyone he met and if he did get knocked down he was not down for long. There was plenty of drama and a few surprises to keep the story interesting as well as moving along at a good pace. This book had the mix of the National Treasure and the Mummy movie. The Lost Order is worth its currency in gold.

This novel was a return to what I enjoyed most about the Malone series. there are many threads running through the storyline, but they remain bound togrther, rather than drifting off in different directions.

another great installment in the Cotton Malone series.
as I explain to most people, Steve Berry is like Dan Brown, but smart.
the audio version of this one was offered with a writer's edition that had the author chime in and give a bit of backstory on the historical references and their truthfulness. I found that to be incredibly interesting.

Excellent addition to the Cotton Malone series. Wonderful story, fantastic plot, and excellent flow to conclusion. More authors should take note of Mr. Berry’s ability to do so.
