I feel a bit weird reviewing an autobiography, because it is the account of someones life, so most adjectives feel a bit empty to use. But what I will say is that I'm grateful to Trevor Noah for having the courage to share these pieces of himself with the world, and I feel like I learned a lot about his home country and his family.I'm very glad I read this book and would highly recommend to other readers.

This book has so much heart! Sure, it’s written by a comedian, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s a comedic book. This was history and truth and love and trial and struggle - so, so much of everything - wrapped up in - a lot.

This was an amazing and inspiring memoir, the story of a childhood and a family, of racism, colonialism,  domestic abuse and faith. This and so much more. I’ll admit I haven’t watched the show trevor noah is on but I have heard of him and knew him as simply a famous guy, the backstory of his life is incredible and rich in culture and love. Some stories here might be disturbing to some people, and yes the truth is upsetting, but I believe everyone should read this book to gain a lot of insight and knowledge into the rich culture of south africa.

A heart wrenching story with his classic sense of humor. I really appreciated this story as it felt incredibly real.
