En français! J'adore Madeline beaucoup, elle est très adorable.

Another favorite of my childhood.

Wonderful classic. If you read this book, make sure you pay attention to the landmarks of Paris in the backgrounds.

Caldecott Book 1/3

The television show Madeline as well as the books were a prominent book in my childhood. I even dressed up as Madeline for Halloween one year and tried to convince my brother to be Pepito (It didn't work). I have always loved Madeline. The language is easy and the poetic nature is appropriate to use as examples of rhythm and rhyme.

The illustrations are heartwarming. The background is loosely drawn with blobs of color for trees and the sky that overlap one another at points. The girls yellow uniforms are easily recognizable, and their faces are very simple yet sweet. One of my favorite parts is at the back of the book there is a list of the famous places that are illustrated within the story.
