The illustrations are amazing and I have always loved this book. My daughter is very "eh" about it.
I love this book which is why i have read it a "few" times.
You can't do nothing but love Madeline.

My umpteenth reread, and I still adore it.
I wasn't sure if I had read this one before or not. When I got about half-way, it seemed very familiar. I think my niece might enjoy this one.
This is one of my childhood favorites. This may be strange. Even as a child, I had a sense there was something going on between Madeline and Pepito. I felt they had a thing going on. You know, "Romantically". What the hell is wrong with me! Is that just me? They were kids and yet I could sense something. I loved the French story and the all the girls and their quirks. It's a cute story. I used to adore the cartoon too. Yeah. Sometimes I just want to take my head off, I'm so fucked up.

The rhymes are cute in many places, but forced in others in that the line breaks throw off the rhythm of the sentences. The illustrations, particularly the color illustrations, are spectacular. These would not look out of place hanging in someone’s home.
Cute story that also shows off some of the historical sights of Paris. The illustrations are simplistic, almost like a child did them, but go well with the story. Really enjoyed the full color illustrations. I predicted the ending because I know human nature, but it was still fun to see unfold.

I absolutely loved Madeline and am embarrassed to not have come across it before. The art-style feels well ahead of its time and is often mimicked now in modern children's literature - the sweeping city scenes of Paris alongside the long, thin perspective of Madeline's boarding school are a treat. However, it is Madeline herself, rather than the landscape, that steals the show. She is feisty, willful and completely at home with being herself. What's nice about it? It's something that either her teachers (nuns) are happy with or cannot control. In that respect, it reminded me a little of Emily Hughes' Wild
just read this to my six year old cousin who kept trying to figure out the rhymes before we got to the next page and then immediately critiqued the title and book cover for being misleading once we finished. A child after my own heart
Finally! I finish a french book!
I've never had the pleasure of reading Madeleine before; I found myself really concerned for her as the book progressed. I wouldn't let myself skip ahead and see if she was okay, though. She had appendicitis, just like me. Lovely story!
