After an incredibly spotty year, with only a few books read since I started the Montessori training in June, I've finally broken (or rather re-broken) the ice with a Stephen King short story collection. What better way to shock myself back into reading then taking on my favorite author?
This might be the best collection yet with nary a "bad" story in here. My copy included an additional story ("Under the Weather"), but the mainstays where there: "1922," "A Good Marriage," "Big Driver" and "A Fair Extension." Each story was a classic King experience: brilliant strokes of characterization and plot, a climax that always delivers, and then a weirdly long denoument.
Highly recommended!

Favorites, in order: A Good Marriage, 1922, Big Driver, Fair Extension. I am really enjoying Mr. King's "long story" collections.
It took me some time to get into the darkness, but this is my favorite King - brilliant character work and exploration of the worlds we would rather keep hidden. I just love his shorter stories.

This was a book of 4 short stories. I have to say, the first story creeped me out a bit because I HATE rats, but for the most part, they were all intriguing. I felt like they were a little rushed for typical Stephen King but I enjoyed them all the same.
This is by far my favorite short story collection from SK I've read. All of the stories are solid and interesting in their own ways. He's also surprisingly good at writing a female main character for an old guy.
