This is an unusual book in that it’s marketed as non-fiction but definitely reads like fiction, except for the introduction and conclusion by the author. I agree with her that heartbreak is a form of grief that isn’t respected, although it’s so awful when it happens.
I enjoyed reading the three stories and felt invested most of the way through, until towards the end when the protagonists’ passivity frustrated me. Their lack of ambition and interests (except for Claire’s intermittent interest in theatre), even from the beginning, made them difficult for me to relate to.
But apart from that, I enjoyed the stories, the innovative structure, and the exploration of a space that we’re not often encouraged to dwell in.

3.5, I liked this, it was definitely written well and some parts really resonated with me however I didn't love it. I had heard so many good things about this book including the words life-changing but this just was not that for me. A good book if you like stories about regular people, relationships and heartbreak. I do recommend it but ultimately it was just okay for me.
