“You can’t be perfect unless you’re alone, and then guess what? You’re alone. So you’re still not perfect.”

I've been curious about the Orphan X books for a while now, but it was Jonetta @ Blue Mood Café who inspired me to finally pick up the first book with her recent reviews of some of the sequels. I do love a good action-focused thriller, and the blurb of Orphan X sounded right up my alley (as well as the perfect recipe for a successful Hollywood movie). And I have to say that this first book didn't disappoint! Evan Smoak makes for such a fascinating main character, and he is without doubt the driving force behind this book. Add a lot of action, danger, suspense and violence, and Orphan X is basically one giant and exhilarating rollercoaster ride. Things can be said about the credibility of it all, but for me this is one of those books where it's best to just sit back and enjoy the ride... If you can suspend your belief, I can promise you that the entertainment level of this book is through the roof. The main focus is on the action and the plot itself, but we still get to know plenty about our main character and there are quite a few side characters as well. This isn't just a story about your typical action hero entering the scene and saving the day, but you will also find plenty of other elements enriching the plot. Some of the twists were a bit predictable, but I personally didn't mind because I was too busy enjoying the ride. If you like your thrillers on the fast, dangerous and action-packed side, Orphan X is a real treat! I'm already looking forward to the next book.
