Nonlinear narrative and normally I wouldn’t mind, but there isn’t much development between then and now wich makes it a bit hard to keep up.
Not so much a slow burn in my opinion, he’s breadcrumbing her and just keeps her hanging. Sometimes acting more like a big brother rather than the love interest. Harry Potter is mentioned on several occasions, which feels a bit silly. Can’t really imagine the MMC reading HP books for fun, but on the other hand I don’t prefer books that takes place in the modern age.

This was a strange tale of grooming, with a selfish and relatively weak FMC. The plot was interesting enough, I literally just couldn’t get past the grooming.

This is probably the first romance book that I've read that I wish had less romance and more plot. The story could have been so interesting if it was the main focus. Instead I was left with things that rubbed me the wrong way, like grooming, SA, and tokenism. I should have DNF'd at 20% but I was interested in the villain's story.

I had never heard of this book or the series as a whole and I think I just found my new drug. I found myself wanting to pull up the audiobook and get more of the story than listen to music or anything else (even games! Who am I?!)

This dark romance, fantasy really does have a great premise of mystery to it. I think the world building of the Otherworld has moments of needing clarity, but I found it to be most enchanting at the same time. The characters flash back sequences allow for much better relationship building, and allows for an easier read. It truly does give second change romance, however the reasoning for the second chance did fall flat.
