This book had a really unique and interesting premise but the execution fell a little short of my expectations. The setup took a long time and it felt like there were no strong opinions about anything in this book. I wish there was more about Helene and Marie and their complicated relationship.

Such an interesting setup that grabbed me right away, but then got bogged down with reflections and details that I found uninteresting. I wanted more.

Good, but my expectations were set pretty high and it just did not meet them.

MV Rating: 9/10 We stan a strong female lead.
• This one is unique - young, Black female FBI turned CIA agent.
• The story is a thinker - everyone’s journeys in life are so different from our own.
•Do you choose love or duty? Do you choose a third glass of wine or bed at 10:30? AT YOUR AGE? These are the tough questions in life.

adventurous slow-paced

A mix a coming-of-age story, with a bit of pan-Africanism, and a mystery all in one. If I could give it 6 stars I would.

Bahni Turpin narrates so of course it was very well done and engaging. She's one of the best out there. Great read told during an interesting time.
