The writing was bad... I mean the quotation marks are being ignored and it just felt wrong. The writing. Her crushing for some old man who has money. Her not realizing the danger and her telling everything as if it has happend 20 years ago. Just bad. I have better books on my shelf to use my time for than this one.
But at least the cover looks good.

i really enjoyed this up until the last line.
is the implication that they rekindled their relationship?? why??? they're horrible for each other.
other than that tho i thought it was very interesting. going in you expect something of a sob story about a poor young woman who was exploited by a mean old man but the truth is
the issue mainly lied in anna. she was childish, unfocused, and obsessive over a guy who never gave her more than he promised. which is why i don't understand the ending. anna doesnt seem to grow or change. she realizes that her fixation on max is unhealthy but in the end falls back into the cycle. is that the point? cycles of abuse? of masochism? or are we seriously supposed to believe the two would live happily ever after? that this is a romance ? come on.
anyways anna laurie are pretty awful and max was hot. i love books about messy women and i hate when authors try to gloss over the harm that messiness causes. let your protagonist be shitty...
