I can not express my love for this book enough. I love the story and how the characters evolve and change. I love the way it’s written, with detail and the way it’s giving you a perfect description of what’s going on. No lazy sentences or mediocre lines. It’s not only beautifully written but a great story as well.

A unique spin on a classic story makes this second installment of Young's duology an enjoyable read.

Sadly, I didn't like this one quite as much as the first book. I think maybe it just felt less cohesive as a story, which in turn made it less compelling to read. Some of the world-building things, like the midnight and even the whole character of Holland, felt oddly tacked on. The first book really made me feel immersed in the setting, which is what I loved most about it. This one didn't quite achieve the same effect. The ending, while good, is a bit less satisfying than I would've liked. It felt like it came together almost too conveniently. The plot was ok, but some of the resolutions between characters, I think, didn't have enough time spent on them on page to feel earned. Still, it was a fun, entertaining read, and I think overall this duology is pretty well done. I will be reading Saint coming out in November, as well as the other standalone novel set in this universe.

Namesake- 3⭐️-does Fable and West talk through ANYTHING?!?!  I can’t help but think everything was too convenient. There was no REAL peril the crew went through, no real danger, the antagonists weren’t particularly vengeful. There was a whole chapter dedicated to a storm they went through and all that happened was they lost an anchor they easily replaced. They thwarted the most powerful “villain” in the book and there was no retaliation just an “oh shucks, better luck next time!” Like… what?! Where is the push back? There was nothing to solve!!!

The 2nd book of this duology certainly redeemed the first book. The plot developed a bit faster and had a little bit more depth than the first. I really like the relationship dynamic between Saint and Fable. I’m excited to read Saint’s and Isolde’s story next. The ending was overly predictable, I saw it from 10 miles away. I would still consider this Teen and not YA.

I don't know why this book got me giggling and smiling the whole time. Didn't ask, didn't care. This was a fun book, perfect for me

I don’t think I’ve read a “pirate” fantasy book but it’s pretty good for YA. Easy to get into, definitely drawn to the crew and what they stand for.
