I enjoyed this one just as much as the first! This series was so amazing ! I couldn’t put it down! Adrienne Young is definitely a favorite author of mine. ❤️
Where to even begin...... I LOVE IT. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED READING IT! Namesake is the sequel to Fable and my god, I was crying over how much it touched me. Namesake picks up right where Fable left off with Fable being taken by Zola and forced onto his ship. The story follows her as she navigates surviving Zola, meeting Holland, and going on a quest to find a rare stone that only her mother found, all the while trying to keep the Marigold crew from being taken by Holland and trying to free not only herself but Saint. The real heart of this book was the growing relationship between Saint and Fable, that beautiful kind of family love, that they would do anything and love each other no matter what because thats what family does. I adored their connection and the unraveling of what truly happened to Fable when Saint left her on the island. The reasons for the complicated decisions they both made and I just... there really are no words for the beautiful relationship. I did love seeing the Marigold crew again and I loved the relationship between West and Fable. West and Fable are two people who will do anything for those that mean something to them, they will shoulder all the costs and go to the ends of the earth, and seeing them trying to protect each other was a wonderful thing to see. Yes, they’re in love, but the beautiful thing is that, they found a family in each other and that was what was so beautiful in their relationship. I just adored everything about this book and thought it was a wonderful way to end the duology. ( Honestly, I wouldn’t mind more books... I so badly want to know more about Saint). This book had so much, from family love, friendships, love, adventure, deceptions, and above all, what it means to be part of a crew.

It was alright but it could’ve been better, the first book was good and was better off as a stand-alone.

What a read!! To me it was a bit slower than the first one since the majority our girl Fable was just angrily doing work on another person’s ship, BUT the ending had me hooked! I didn’t care so much for all the little games everyone was playing constantly though, how Fable got stuck in all of it. I would’ve loved seeing more of the Marigold crew!!
When Saint finally spoke out and said “my daughter” at the end my eyes welled with tears ((much as Fable’s eyes constantly did in the books) it legit happened so many times). Or when she figured out her Mom’s necklace had the midnight gemstone in it, I had lil goosebumps! Such an adventurous story, I absolutely love the way Young writes!

After unexpectedly loving Fable, I was obviously very excited to read the second book straight away. Spoiler alert: it’s another sequel that didn’t live up to the first book.
I can be very hard on duology. Most of the time they could have just been a strong standalone instead of a dragged story that result in a weak plot in book two. Fable could and should have been a standalone in my opinion.
In Fable, our main character joins the crew of the Marigold and unexpectantly find love and a family on its deck. An aspect of the story that I absolutely adored. In Namesake, Fable barely has any interaction with the crew of the Marigold and when she does, it’s so full of angst that we don’t feel the found family vibe anymore. That was already something that really bothered me.
Then there was the plot. I wish I could say it was a surprising one, but in truth, it was very predictable. Despite the high stakes, it felt like nothing could really endangers the characters. The fact that Fable was very passive in this book didn’t help either.
I still loved the setting and the atmosphere, like in the first book, was simply on point. The writing was also very good! In the end, the Fable duology was a quick enjoyable story, and despite its weaker ending, I still enjoyed it overall.
