such an interesting premise for a historical romance and i’m a sucker for the beauty and the beast implications. will be reading the rest of the series immediately
Rating: 4.5 stars
Oh, this was such a lovely book! I finally got my hands on it after it being sold out for a long time. I actually already read Her Wicked Marquess, the second book of the Sinful Wallflowers series, and absolutely loved it. Therefore I was excited to read another book by Stacy Reid and it was definitely worth the wait.
The story is both fun and emotional, with some great banter and steam. I didn't immidiately love Kitty, but rather got more and more intrigued by her as the story progressed and by the halfway mark she had won me over. Alexander was a very interesting character. I thought Stacy Reid did a wonderful job in portraying his struggle with his injury and subsequent illness, and it's effects on him and those close to him. She also made a twist on it that I haven't read before and I thought this made the story even more beautiful. The evolution of Kitty and Alexander's relationship was a joy to read.
Overall this was just a wonderfully heartwarming story and I will definitely be reading the third book which comes out in December.

It was horrendously simple minded, and presumed the reader was as dull as every character. This can hardly be described as historical, as everything that happened couldn’t have happened in the 1800’s.

Such a fierce and gentle story all at the same time. Gorgeous.

kitty.. already I’m annoyed and know she’s going to be impulsive and stupid.
Alexander, of course a wonderful MMC. Tortured and wounded..
the plot was a little far fetched, but I could suspend my disbelief if Kitty wasn’t such a ninny.

I absolutely LOVED every single part of this book. It’s so deeply touching but also is very fun. This book kept me engaged so much- I binged it in one second. The disability representation in this blew me away. As a disabled reader it meant so much to me to have a character who has such a complicated relationship with his disability and pain but also it’s done in a way that felt so incredibly real. The Duke has chronic pain, mobility issues, burns/disfigurement and also is a wheelchair user. The wheelchair representation especially in a historical novel was so important to me. Disabled characters belong in every genre. I loved how Katherine was unapologetically in love with this man and constantly fought for him. She always just existed with him and never tried to assume he wanted her help to do things. The main characters had so much sexual tension from the moment they met which just made everything so much better. The set up of this book was so incredible and I love Katherine’s devotion to her family. I will not shut up about this book anytime soon. Cant wait to read more of Stacy Reid’s work
