I read this in high school and remembered loving it, I’m glad I took the time to reread it. It holds up.

Another book that I really liked by Markus Zusak. I enjoyed listening to this on audio. The person that read the story was Australian so it really made the story come alive. Ed was your stereotypical deadbeat and I loved how he changed throughout the book with meeting all of the people he was involved with.

I was disappointed when I found out who the person was that was sending Ed the playing cards...kind of surprised at the same time.

This storyline kind of reminded me of the movie (yes, because I didn't read the book) Pay it forward.

Definitely the most emotionally torn I have ever felt while reading a book. This book had me smiling like a lunatic and crying like a baby in almost every chapter.
It was just so lovely to read. So original, inspirational and pure.
I don't think I can do justice describing what it's about.
It's about how everyone is special in their own way; it's about how our life is only worth living if we live it for others. It's about making this world a better place. About love, friendship and goodness.

"I am not the messenger at all. I'm the message." gave me the chills. DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ.

The book was 'okay'. I liked it enough to finish it in merely a few hours. I enjoyed the writing. To be honest I was expecting more as it comes so highly recommended from many people/sites. I guess for me, it was 'talked up' a little bit more than it should have been. I didn't feel the 'amazing' factor that many people discuss. It isn't a book I will be thinking about much past this review. Overall it was 'okay'. I could take it or leave it.
