A reminder that we come into and leave this world with empty hands, which are good for unbuilding walls. We have nothing except each other and our strengths are in what we share; all from “the handkerchief I use”; partnership; and the ultimate agency of the ansible. Great sci fi is about people, technology is the least important part. Le Guin as always captured the most touching human instinct to care for each other, big picture and on the personal level, in incredible beauty and economy

It took me a long time and several false starts to get into this book, but it got its hooks in me eventually. It's a thought-provoking story, raising questions of whether an anarchic society is first truly possible, and then truly better than an archic one. There isn't really a clear answer, but then, maybe the answer isn't the point.
