In this series, Nick comes out as Bi to classmates on a trip in Paris.

Charlie also confides in Nick about his depression when he was outed at school especially how this has led to him cutting and he developed an eating disorder which he still struggles with. In the next comic, I think they are going to admit their love for one another and Charlie is going to face his eating disorder more head on.

This installment has many sweet moments between Nick and Charlie and their friends. It also delves into teen mental health and eating disorders. It does so in an approachable way that I think is an important message for teens.

I love these graphic novels so much!! I’ve loved getting to know more of the characters, and it definitely makes me want to rewatch the show. I think that Oseman handles the more difficult topics (eating disorder, bullying, outing) with such grace and sensitivity! I love this series! 

Trans right read-a-thon book 4! The author, Alice Oseman, goes by she/they pronouns and considers themselves to be gender-fluid!

A definite improvement over the second book, this one feels like it could stand alone if it had to while being a solid continuation of the series - the majority of this volume is set on a school trip to Paris, which gives this part of the ongoing story some individual structure. The art quality continues to improve, or the style has just fully grown on me now!

This time our characters both discover coming out as a couple isn't as straightforward as they imagined, while touching on issues of mental health that will doubtless be explored more in the future. It's another very wholesome exploration of LGBTIQ+ relationships that highlights solutions (sometimes just attitudes!) to overcoming issues rather than mining them for grim dramatic potential - but there is still drama, as this series continues to be extremely engaging, and there are a few punch-the-air moments.

Definitely looking forward to seeing the threads laid down for Volume 4 explored, but in many ways this would have been a satisfying conclusion to the series.

I was so tired but I really needed to finish this book. I really wish I could stay up and read the fourth volume, but that will sadly need to wait until after I sleep.
