4/25/2022 - Updated review for audio.

4/23/2022 - It’s in audio. And whispersync. Ahhhhhh! Rearranging my TBL because I have an ear crush on Kirt Graves that’s only getting worse each time I listen to him.

First. That cover.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I thoroughly enjoyed book. I was introduced to Kiki Clark after reading her short story, Looking 4 Furever in the Heart2Heart Paranormal Anthology Volume 7 which I enjoyed so I decided to check out more of her books. I thought that this was another good addition to the Kincaid Pack Series. I thought Drake, Gabriel and Jamie were great together and their chemistry was completely off the charts, as well as hot as hell. I loved seeing Gabriel’s true self as he lowered his walls where Drake and Jamie are concerned, he came across as a bit of an arogant cocky a*se in the previous books. Wow, he has his own demons to face and it’s no wonder he got his witch friend Keegan to magically shield his scent after hearing what he went through. Drake has interested my since he was first introduced during book one, and my heart absolutely broke for him after he was left scarred and losing an arm after his house was blown up by his alpha-mate Kai’s dad and step-mother.

Drake’s done so well with his recovery but he gets triggered every now and then by certain things which is completely normal but Drake is way too hard on himself. He doesn’t believe that he deserves a mate, let alone two. Jamie was first introduced in book one, and has been Rick’s personal assistant ever since. Jamie takes his job very seriously. Jamie feels attraction to both Drake and Gabriel, he believes that Drake can’t stand him and Gabriel is off limits due to his profession and not being part of the pack. It doesn’t take long for things to heat up between Gabriel and Jamie. It takes Drake longer to realise his true feelings for Jamie and Gabriel but he eventually gets there. All I can say is that Gabriel’s family are complete and utter a*seholes and he found a loving, caring and protective family/pack that he deserves and should’ve always had. I’m looking forward to reading the next book and it’s Nico and Keegan’s turn next. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

THE HUNTER AND HIS MATES continues the Kincaid pack's battle against their Council enemies and this time features a poly couple with the Hunter Gabriel and shifters Jamie and Drake. However, the first half of the book is primarily focused on Gabriel and Jamie developing their relationship and Drake doesn't really become a part of things until the second half of the book. The transition from Drake disliking Gabriel (because he's a hunter) to being involved with him was a bit abrupt and I wish we had seen more of Gabriel and Drake spending time around each other so that Drake's change of opinion would have made more sense.

That being said, once these three are together they were on fire and I loved how much they cared for each other. The intimacy between MCs (both in and out of the bedroom) is something that Kiki Clark does really well and I was swooning through the majority of the book because of these characters. I especially loved Gabriel's southern charm and endearments.

While I loved the romance side of the story I do have to make a comment on the plot. Almost the entire first half of this book runs parallel in action to the previous book in the series so I would not recommend reading this without reading the previous book first. There were lots of brief references to events that were happening to other characters but they were never really given context in this book even though they were really important things for the overall series plot. I didn't really like this format because it made the first half of THE HUNTER AND HIS MATES feel like it wasn't a main story (which it is). Once the events are caught up though we get lots of new developments in the overall arc and I can't wait to read the next book!

Content Warning: Drake is dealing with PTSD and chronic pain after an explosion led to his arm being amputated.

I really enjoy this world. These three characters have been orbiting each other for a couple of books, so it was inevitable, but parts of this still seemed rushed. I guess it’s the danger they’re all in, they just sort of toss their reservations aside at some point. Gabriel wasn’t exactly as I expected him to be, and their mated throuple dynamics were pretty interesting. Overall, this was a solid installment of the series, if not my favorite. (Also, these covers are so over the top, they come back around and are almost admirable.)

Another great book in series

I love this series and love every book. The world building is really well done and in each book we learn something more about it.

I really enjoyed loved how the relationship between Drake,Jamie and Gabriel grew through the book.

I also like how the main characters have a HEA but there are still questions left and a hint at the next couple. I definitely recommend this book and can’t wait for the next one.
