I like that there are so many options of reading a, music, and art to use for each day in Advent. It is a “low-pressure” type of book for what can be a very busy season.

I think Tsh does an excellent job of giving historical context and background for advent but wish the daily readings had a bit more content. She has a website that correlates with each day of advent and has artistic ways to engage with advent through paintings, music and reflections.

I absolutely loved this Advent study. The readings are short and it never makes you feel like you’re behind in the busiest season of the year.

I like a lot about this book. It's pretty, it's informative of the history of advent and gives a lot of direction to help you develop your own advent observation, and mostly, it holds a space of the "not quite" of advent that I really needed this year. And apparently that's exactly what advent is for Target than celebrating Christmas all month long! I also really love the incorporation of art for meditation for each day. Thanks to this book for slowing this season and bringing art and beauty into my daily practice.

I didn’t read every word of this because Advent + pastor life is...a lot. But I enjoyed the format with the simple reading and reflection question for each day, plus engagement with art and songs. A non-stressful devotional guide in a season that lends itself to overcommitment.

I am enjoying the beautiful simplicity of this book. The design is both aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. I love Tsh Oxenreider’s down-to-earth writing, and Shadow & Light delivers more of the same. It’s the perfect book to help me renew my faith exploration with guidance that is not at all intimidating.
