I went in a little iffy about the plot of the book. It was like “woah, space AND King Arthur era relation? I’m not sure how that will work”, but it’s pulled off flawlessly. I fell in love with all the characters almost immediately, and adore how the character Merlin was portrayed.

It was a riveting book that I just couldn’t put down. I read it in less than 24 hours, it was so good. If you’re looking for a great combination of futuristic fantasy and the Camelot era, this is the book for you.

Was fun to read but would have liked more world building. Not a spoiler but the bits leading up to the end had me so (not mad but like -_-). First half of the book was slow then it really gets going. Loved all the characters.

So I have the actual book but I still ended up listening to it. LMFAO - I'm evil. Or lazy.

Once & Future was a pretty funny book to dive into. Which wasn't what I was expecting - yet, I thoroughly enjoyed. I absolutely loved every character that was introduced within this book - Merlin might have been my absolute favorite. Besides him, there's Ari and she was nice and all.. but Mer was my guy. Ya know those King Arthur films? Doesn't matter when they were made or nothing - I'm a total geek for them. No idea why, but if it's a thing I probably watched it already.

Other than all of that, I enjoyed this book. It had some bumps along the way like the weird time hops. Yet, I enjoyed it. Since someone already knows that I don't remember a single thing about the ending of this book (because I was so focused on my work that it took me a while to realize that the book finished a long ass time ago) so I wont even try to mention anything about it. Must've been a nice one or maybe something tragically wonderful. I will never know until the day that I decide to dive back into the book.. so whenever book 2 comes out.

I didn’t really take me two months to read this, i was listening to this through Libby and had it returned before I finished. Then I had to wait 4 weeks to get it again. Then it only took days.

I really enjoyed this twist on Camelot Legend. I liked the Arthur character as a teenage girl. I liked the that there was gender and sexual fluidity in the future that the author creates.

I really tried to like this book more than I did. It was fun and kept me engaged the whole time, but I found myself skimming several pages when the plot became too bogged down with SO MANY THINGS happening at once. Ari is dead but she's alive and then there's a time jump and then they're all reunited and suddenly on another planet and there be dragons??

What I Liked: The King Arthur legend and how they kept referring back to previous incarnations of him and his knights. I like that Merlin ages backwards instead of reincarnates himself into different bodies/people. Merlin being an Anxiety Bro made me relate more to him than to any other character. I really really liked Jordan and want an entire series of her being a wall-scaling-like-it's-no-big-deal badass.

What I Didn't Like: The book was very plot heavy, which was cool and interesting, but we didn't have enough time to get to know the characters. We learn bits and pieces here and then of everyone, but I would have liked a bit more background. It wasn't until the last few pages that we learn more about Gwen and her history.

All told, I'd give this 3.5 stars. The only reason I'm rating under is because so many things happened off-page for me to get invested too much in what was happening.

This was good!! We love gays in space, and despite me not being a huge fan of sci-fi, the Merlin magic bit got me. The plot was good, the characters were interesting and funny, and the king author theme was really fun. While it wasn’t the best book in the world it may have struggled a but with pacing issues, I’m not too sure I read it a but ago, it was over all a good read, if I ever get around to it I’d enjoy reading the sequel
