I couldn’t listen to all the way through. She spoke about herself in the second person, which is so odd for a memoir. Maybe she should have written a story inspired by true events.

A gorgeous read. The author has done an amazing job creating a landscape to tell her story and I loved immersing myself in it.

Though the subject was difficult, it was refreshing in a way to hear the perspective of another fat queer woman, and eye opening to compare our lives. I had to buy the kindle version so I could highlight the parts that really stuck with me and I’m glad I did.

god i adored this. i love you memoirs about abuse in new and unconventional ways. i love you books that make you google new terms and words and tropes every few paragraphs. i love you books that make me have the text of alice in wonderland open on my phone while i read sections. i love you books that engage broadly with culture and literature and genre and cliche. i love you books obviously written by english majors that are also about how to deal with the version of you that was abused and how to move on and how to make a life after something bad has happened and how to realize your pain is actually something very base and common even though when it happened you thought it was new and incredible and happened to you alone.

so good. sooooo good
