Loved and devoured. The illustrations, the plot, the characters. It’s also an important story on identity and standing strong. Definitely a must read.

Great book that will add to any elementary, junior high, or high school library collections.

Juvenile graphic novel adaptation of King's 1993 short story.
For me, was a great window into an issue in the world I wasn't familiar with.
Very engaging - I was eager to see how the story resolved.
One thing I'm a little hung up on is that even though this is marketed for kids, the kid in the story is mostly an observer. His mom is really the one making the decisions, being the actor.
I hope a lot of people read it, though. It's a story that deserves more visibility.

I thought this was a stunning short story following an Indigenous family and really exploring what it means to take pride in Indigenous identity. I thought this did such a great job of conveying a story even when there weren’t a lot of words in some scenes. I just wish it was longer!

Borders focuses on an issue I didn't even know existed. This story of family love, barriers, and forced conformity is a great discussion starter and a foot in the door to exploring other less known "formalities" in protocol that exist when trying to go from one country to another.

This graphic novel is beautifully drawn and written. It deals with Indigenous people and the issues they face with trying reclaim their culture, their land, their sense of self. It deals with border issues (those in Canada in this one) and how difficult it is to claim your country of origin when you're an Indigenous person. This book will be well-received by anyone who reads it because it hits so close to home on many issues we discuss in the US everyday.
