The Writing Revolution reinforces the Hochman Method of Writing, that is, clear and explicit instruction of writing skill embedded with content, can create stronger communicators.

The focus of specific technique and formative feedback, whilst not new, reinforced what constitutes good pedagogy.

Whilst some elements of instruction outlined I felt was either unnecessary or not good value for time, such as the persistence of explicitly teaching shorthand writing symbols, what I felt was most valuable about this book was the technical focus on sentence stems and breaking writing down to it's most basic level. Too often teachers focus on the end goal without accounting for the steps inbetween.

I will likely come back to this in the fall but the book study we were doing ended awkwardly before I could finish the book and I can't seem to focus.
