This was a DNF for me, after about 30 pages. I knew it wasn't for me, and am ready to move on to something else. Other reviewers mentioned the hateful/competitive "friendship" amongst the girl characters, and I picked up on (and disliked) that in the first chapter. I also was done with all the mentions of the movie, and the fact that being transported into this world also meant that all the people looked like the actors from the movie - "except a bit different." What is that? No thank you.

I would have enjoyed this more if it had been just a little shorter because I don't think the premise can bear the weight of a novel of this length. That's not to say it isn't enjoyable and if, like me, you've enjoyed franchises like The Hunger Games, you'll get a thrill from the direct and indirect references. The author absolutely knows her audience and has fun fulfilling and then subverting our expectations. Best enjoyed without trying too hard to figure everything out logically, especially as in one scene a character straight up says they aren't going to explain how it all works. Just enjoy the ride and the company of the very relatable lead.
