This was a really interesting character study. The characters are flawed and relatable, and you want them to find happiness. The drama is something out of Desperate Housewives but the commentary is incisive and your heart really breaks for the characters while their lives spiral out of control in a way that is, a least in my experience, unique in comparison with other Christie novels and novels of that era in general. Lurid, that’s the word I think Christie would use.
This is one of the times Christie breaks out of her mold in a big way and it pays off. I will read this again someday.

This was my first Agatha Christie book. I liked the first 2 parts but the 3rd part was slow and I wished to just finish it. The end was not satisfactory and predictable but overall I liked it.

I think this is one of the best books I read which talks so fluently about the complexities of a mother-daughter relationship. I really loved both the characters of Ann and Sarah. While I may personally not relate to the story (cause Imma a brown girl and momma is ALWAYS correct XD), but it definitely made me think from the perspective of a mother.
I will definitely urge you all to read this

As I am a fan of her crime stories this was a mere disappointment. The two main protagonists were irritating and narrow-minded, not to mention their selfishness. The story just did not work for me. However, I appreciate that she had the courage to experiment with other genres.
