If I had to compare this author to anyone, it would be Emma Mills because 1. I will read anything either of them write. and 2. We all seem to have a similar sense of humor. I am using this for a book challenge where the category is "book that makes you laugh out loud." Granted, I generally laugh a lot while reading, but I genuinely enjoyed the bits in this book.

Also, I think this may be the first book I have ever read that mentioned auditory processing disorder, something I struggle with but had not know about until a couple of years ago.

This book was not at all what I thought it would be. On Goodreads the tags for the book call it coming of age, humor and comedy. Maybe it is just me but none of those words would be how I would describe the mood of this book. I would more so deem the mood as sad and tense. Isabel is a high school junior who is very introverted so the only friend she really has is her shitty controlling boyfriend Alex. Isabel also feel like an outcast within her own family. One night Isabel accidentally stumbles into a comedy club and does a stand-up set. After she completes her impromptu set Isabel makes friends with a few other comics in the club. The only problem with that is the other comics are in college. The age dilemma causes Isabel to weave herself into a web of lies. Isabel is using comedy as coping mechanism to find a way out of her life and to try to gain acceptance.  I found this book through a YouTube book channel. I wish I would have researched the content warnings more closely before reading. Side note the plant references throughout the book became annoying after a while.

This book is awesome!! It was actually the first book I read in a long time, and it sparked back my love for reading. Now, in the past month I've been reading nonstop thanks to this book. It was funny, touching and I couldn't stop reading it. I loved this book so fricking much!! Thanks K. Henry :)

Delightful and fun without being fluff, Henry's "This Will Be Funny Someday" explores the ways in which comedy and performance can be vectors for healing and growth. I especially loved Henry's exploration of the often harsh transition to womanhood.

Just one of many lines that made me laugh: "'How do you know they both went to Harvard?' Mom smiles. 'It's like with vegans, sweetheart. They tell you.'" Read it!

Maybe this just wasn't the right book for me right now, but I found Izzy's passivity very grating. Also, the copy editor should be put on notice because I found 4 errors and I only read to page 100.
