A great prequel to the series!

A great short focusing on two characters from one of my favorite series. I wouldn’t say no to more stories focus on Faz and Del!

This was a great short story to break up the series. Loved getting some backstory on Del and Faz. Can’t wait to see how this plays into the next book. It felt like this was put here to give readers that back story to help understanding in the next book.

Audiobook Version
A very intriguing short story. Liked these characters. The narration was perfectly performed and I would recommend this book.

I don’t read a lot of novellas in series. Some are better than others. The In Death and Chronicles of St Mary’s novellas are always fun. This one felt off-topic. It had nothing to do with Tracey but did give us background info about some of the detectives she works with in the SPD. I’m looking forward to the next installment with TC in 2022!

Ok I am confused, this series is about Tracy right then why do we have before she was there it just seems odd.

I mean I liked getting to see when these two meet but it just seem very odd.

The narration is ok, not the same narrator but I get it, it is in all male pov.

This short story provides a background to the full story #9 of the Tracy Crosswhite series.

Del Castigliano, in 1995, has just moved from Wisconsin to the Seattle police force. Moss Gunderson is assigned as his partner to induct him into homicide investigations. Moss is a very popular guy in the force. Two bodies are fished from the water and Moss suggests Del can lead the case. At the marina near where the bodies are found, Del speaks to the harbourmaster David Scolum and learns of a boat which most likely was used for drug dealing. The 2 dead men have no ids and seem to be illegals who might have come on a boat. Since drug dealing is involved, Del also seeks inputs from Rick Tombs, head of drugs task force - the Last Line, other than Moss.

All the critical events and characters are also in the full story #9. This, nevertheless, provides Del’s perspective of that time of drug dealing and corruption in the force.
