Okay so I don't know if it's binge fatigue or the fact that this is very much a transitional installment in the series but I wasn't quite as enthusiastic during the read as I was for the first two. This installment felt different than the first and I would guess that it's because Corwin has triumphed in some aspects but then a whole new mess of drama is coming down now. So the story has no real big bad enemy feeling that the first two had with Eric being so prominent. I mean the whole family is still a bunch of treacherous d bags and there's all that infighting but the overall arc seems to be shifting away from the politics of the throne and more into the world as we know it is ending. There was less of that cliffhanger feel at the end of this which was nice and I'm still invested enough to continue on with the series.

Finished "Sign of the Unicorn" (Amber Chronicles 3) by Roger Zelazny. What can I say? The story continues. The Unicorn made an appearance. Is there such a thing as too much order? This book says "yes."

Not as dynamic as the first two - quite a large part is quite static, with people talking, scheming and stabbing each other - but still pretty good. Change of pace allows Zelazny to go psychodelic in his descriptions of visions Corwin experiences, while the final cliffhanger provides a change of perspective on quite a bit of the story so far.

Good, but a whole lot of nothing happens.

The end was a bit abrupt, but since I am reading the ominibus version on my reader, I can go on to the next one. A good series of Science Fiction/Fantasy. I'm enjoying the story.

If I could, I'd give this 3 1/2 stars. I thought it was better than the second book in the series, but not quite as good as the first. I liked the expansion the world (universe?) view gets at the very end of the book and find some of the fringe physics ideas going on very interesting about human perception and the edge of reality etc... I also enjoyed the "whodunnit" mystery element, which suprised me because I don't usually go for mysteries.

MUCH better then the first two books ... which I though was mostly rubbish.
